Cool video by Shelter showing it’s proposal for building homes people can actually afford.
In my home town there are loads of new houses being built (unfortunately no investment in schools, or Doctors or infrastructure) however they are being built by private housing developers and won’t be affordable. Likely to be bought by buy-to let landlords and trap even more young people into long term renting.
I’m really lucky that me and partner were able to buy a house, but we needed help. Other people don’t have the support we have; at what point did the idea of owning your own home become an impossibility for so many young people? How did we let that happen?
A lot of people say that us millenials are lazy and self entitled… and maybe we are, but I don’t think affordable housing and stable address is too much to ask?
