A Little Fear

You have to handle me delicately

gentle nudge in the right direction

It is when you dictate

Offer your truths with a capital T

Followed by little lies

And I don’t know how to handle you

To follow your lead?

Or maybe walk away?

I was left shaking in my boots

Do you talk with honesty?

Am I playing a dangerous game?

don’t really know you

So the fear settles in

The temperature drops

It starts with a shiver

Then I freeze

Fight or flight

Or maybe just make yourself

So quiet

So small

That you can’t be seen.

That you can’t be heard.

That you can’t be hurt.
